Vivo Institute

Vivo Institute, responsible for the social investment of the company, directs its activities to the social inclusion, supporting educational projects generating opportunities to visual defective youngsters and from a low income.

Besides that, it coordinates the actions for the Vivo Volunteer Program that stimulates its collaborators to dedicate part of their time to benefit the inclusion of the visual defective youngster. Centers for production of educational materials were created, Vivo Volunteer in São Paulo – responsible for the production and transcription in Braille – and in Rio de Janeiro – where audio books recordings are made.

Another pioneer initiative of Vivo Institute is the audio description available at Vivo Theater, in São Paulo, what has made it become the first City Hall in the country to offer this resource to its viewers with visual deficiency. Through the same system used in simultaneous translations, information by audio description is transmitted by volunteers highly capable to develop this technique.

As a result, in just a year, about 600 hours of audio have been recorded and more than 200,000 pages have been printed in Braille. For all those activities, Vivo counts on partners from all over the country like Dorina Nowill Foundation, Laramara, Audioteca Sal & Luz, among others.
